Meet the NFWC Council

Steve Smith: President

Steve has been in his current position of Operations Manager for North Poudre Irrigation Company for the past year. In that time, Steve has become a strong community member and partner in several projects including the Poudre River Ecology Program as well as the North Fork Weed Coop.

Kathy Orloski Fithian: Vice-president

Kathy is a private landowner in the Livermore area, has been a community member for 8 years and is a member of other community organizations including the Livermore Elementary School PTO and the Livermore Women's Club. Kathy is a veterinarian and an epidemiologist and works in the field of public health.

Reid Cameron: Secretary

Reid is a private landowner in the Livermore area and lives on Wills Gulch, a part of Phantom Canyon Ranches. Reid works at The Repair Shop in Fort Collins. In addition to being a private individual, Reid represents the Landowners Association for Phantom Canyon Ranches and the Council.

Mike Sherman: Treasurer

Mike has lived in Fort Collins for 11 years and has been working as a wildlife biologist for the Colorado Division of Wildlife for the past 4 years. He works across Weld, Larimer, and Boulder counties on numerous issues including habitat protection and restoration, land use mitigation, property management, non-game species inventory, and noxious weeds. Previously Mike was involved in research and natural resource management for various federal and state agencies across the western U.S. and Pacific.

Heather Knight: Council Member

Heather Knight is a native of Australia and has lived and worked for the last 8 years in Livermore with her husband Rick Knight. After arriving in the US eleven years ago Heather volunteered for The Nature Conservancy while working first at Colorado State University and then at ENSR Consulting. Heather accepted the position as Land Steward for Phantom Canyon Preserve 8 years ago and is now the Program Manager for the landscape site now called the Laramie Foothills. This opportunity has allowed Heather to apply her training in natural resource management, ecology and education, to develop a community-based conservation program in the Laramie Foothills.
